As reported by The Daily Mail, Manchester United boss Jose Mourinho has once and for all ruled out a move for superstar Cristiano Ronaldo this summer.
What’s the story?
Ask Red Devils fans which played they’d want to see arrive at Old Trafford this summer and you can bet that many would reply with one name only; Cristiano Ronaldo.
He of course made his name in Manchester before going on to become arguably the best player in the world at Real Madrid and this summer speculation about a return to the English Premier League has been more fevered than usual.
However, United fans will have to forget about a potential switch after Mourinho flatly ruled it out.
As quoted by The Daily Mail, the Old Trafford boss said:
I’m not going to waste my time thinking about players who are mission impossible. We have never thought about it because he is such an important player for his club, of great economic power. We have not been able to find for whatever reason that could have made us think Ronaldo could leave.
Having already completed deals for Romelu Lukaku and Victor Lindelof this summer, United fans have plenty to look forward to next season regardless, but a move for the Red Devils legend would have seen their happiness hit new heights.
United likely aren’t done with their transfer business yet and it’ll be interesting to see if they can come up with the world class signings they need to be a force at home and in the UEFA Champions League once again.
