According to Bayern's interest in Nkunku is driven by a combination of injuries and player exits that have left their attacking unit depleted. Leroy Sane recently joined Turkish side Galatasaray on a free transfer, while rising star Jamal Musiala suffered a fractured fibula during their recent Club World Cup loss to Paris Saint-Germain, an injury that will sideline him for approximately four months. The need for reinforcements has become urgent, and Nkunku’s prior Bundesliga experience and versatility in the final third make him an appealing option for the German champions.

The Blues are open to a permanent transfer for Nkunku, despite his contract running until 2029. A sale would help them balance the books and create room for new signings. Manchester United are also keeping tabs on the Frenchman, with United’s recruitment chief Christopher Vivell having previously worked closely with Nkunku during their shared stints at both RB Leipzig and Chelsea.
