Everton winger Aaron Lennon posted a message on his Twitter account following his first start of the season in the 2-1 EFL Cup defeat to Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday, and Toffees fans are happy to see him back in action.
Caretaker manager David Unsworth decided to hand the 30-year-old a rare spot in the starting XI for the trip to London, despite the fact that the wide man had played just an hour of football previously this term.
Lennon has missed the last few weeks through injury, but he certainly made a positive impression in the capital by going close to finding the net on a couple of occasions while also tracking back well from his position on the right flank.
Everton supporters were quick to respond to his message via social media, and while many told him “it was great to see you back”, others said “you should have been playing all season”.
Here is just a selection of the Twitter reaction…
